Digestive Health
Our digestive tract is recognised as a key component of our overall state of wellbeing. We depend upon gut function to absorb nutrients and defend from food-born pathogens. Around 75 percent of our immune system is situated in and around the digestive tract - so immune health is also intrinsically linked to gut health. Taking steps to improve gut health can not only improve the immediate area but also have quite an impact on overall health and vitality.
As a nutritional therapists, we work on a one-to-one basis with our clients to support their gastrointestinal optimal health and function.
The equilibrium between various microbes in the gut lumen of humans is required to ensure optimal gastrointestinal health. Gut microbiota aid food digestion and absorption, and inhibit the development of pathogenic bacteria. Alterations in these ratios may lead to a change in gastrointestinal function and health. Nutritional therapists look to support optimal ecological balance in the gastric lumen through the personalised use of foods, food constituents and biological agents (probiotics).
Life experience has shown us that it is much easier to make a mess than it is to clean one up! Our personal battles to keep our desks tidy and our houses clean remind us every day that nature is inclined to disorder. The same happens with our food selection, lifestyles and internal homeostatic systems. Our role as your personal nutritional therapist is to help you optimise your diet and lifestyle to keep your internal 'workspace' in order. This means supporting and maintaining a state of optimal health through the use of specific foods, food concentrates, biological agents (probiotics) and lifestyle changes.
Often we recommend non-invasive diagnostic tests which can assess gastrointestinal function.
